He’s fighting to forget his past while she struggles to remember hers...
Doctor Josh Parker lives with guilt about his wife’s death every day. He believes himself incapable of ever loving again, but when a mysterious woman arrives in the Emergency Room, brutally beaten and left for dead, he starts to feel something he hasn't felt in far too long:
hope.
Alessandra Matthews has no memory of the events that led to her being hospitalized. Worse, she has no idea who hurt her or why. Although she’s uncertain of who she is, she is fully aware of one thing -- she’s falling for her doctor.
Sometimes, what you don’t know can kill you...
As Josh and Alessa work to solve the mystery surrounding her past, she soon realizes just how much danger she’s really in, but Josh refuses to let her face the darkness of her memories alone. With each of them struggling to put their pasts behind them, theirs is a DANGEROUS LOVE.
My Thoughts:
This was a different read for me, but still an enjoyable story. It seemed to take romance and suspense and put them into the same story.
These two characters couldn't be more different from each other. Alessandra is so unsure of herself and completely convinced that she is a burden to everyone around here. We soon realize why, but it is still heart-wrenching to see her so down on herself all the time.
John falls somewhere in between full of confidence and fully broken. He is a successful physician with a great job, but he still suffers from the guilt and loneliness as a result of the death of his late wife. The first time he lays eyes on Alessandra we realize that he is falling completely in love with her.
Their relationship is one that is difficult to build. In the midst of them falling in love, there is the entire suspense of finding out what happened to cause Alessandra to end up in the hospital to begin with. As the story unfolds we learn more and more about the circumstances surrounding her injuries, and watching the characters discover the details kept me turning the pages. I had to find out the who, what, and why.
As this story comes to an end, we see God work in a great way. He brings Josh back to his family and closer to the relationship he once had with Him. But we also see that faith begin to develop in Alessandra, and it is so sweet to see her finally put her trust in Him during the crisis in this story.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was full of all the things that make for a great story.
