This book is a great suspense with a Christian theme that keeps it all from getting out of control. Yes, the main plot is Lisa Jackson and her suspicious disappearance. Lisa and Ben seem to have a great life with a great future when she comes up missing. The town immediately begins looking for her, and everyone wants to believe she is alive somewhere - until the town's psychic gets involved.
Of course, this turns into a murder mystery that has all sorts of sub-plots going on. In the middle of trying to figure out who killed Lisa, Police Chief Cade uncovers all kinds of stories going on in his town. The actual killer was not at all who I suspected, and the scene in which he/she (I'm not telling!) is revealed is pretty intense and exciting.
But there are also several other stories going on here, and my favorite is the story of Morgan and Jonathan. This couple runs the local home which seems to be a Christian based half-way house. They also take in foster kids whose parents are in prison. Morgan and Jonathan are struggling with infertility, and their story and journey touched me. I found myself crying with Morgan, and getting my hopes up with her as their story progressed.
And the third sub-plot that I loved was Blair's story. Blair owns the local paper, and has just recently brought her life back to God and to church. She is a new Christian who is struggling to live with her faith, as well as be able to be a witness to others around her. As she grows in her Christian walk, we really see a difference in her life and her personality. I just loved it.
So yes, go get this book and read it. It may be a suspense, but there are so many other things going on inside. I truly believe there is something for everyone in this book.
