A Wedding in Provence {Ellen Sussman}

A Wedding in Provence: A Novel
I received a complimentary ebook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this story and enjoyed about 95% of this book. The story is of Olivia and Brody - both in their mid 50's and single. The book takes place during their wedding weekend and includes the meshing of Olivia's daughters with Brody's mom, and a small grouping of very close friends.

Olivia and Brody are madly in love, but their friends and family all have personal struggles they are dealing with over the weekend.

I really enjoyed how the character point of view changed with each chapter to prevent the story from getting stale. The downside to this book - use of the f-bomb and a love scene that was just a little too much for my taste.

Overall, a good book and worth the read.

Cassidy Lane {Maria Murnane}

I received a digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

Bestselling author Cassidy Lane walks into her twentieth high school reunion with several novels under her belt, but no date on her arm, and deep down she still feels like the smart girl no one asked to the prom. Then handsome Brandon Forrester confesses his teenage crush, and soon Cassidy finds herself swept up in a modern-day fairytale romance not unlike the tales she spins for a living.

While their relationship blossoms, however, the new book she's writing isn't going as well, and for the first time in her career she considers crafting an ending that doesn't end with a proverbial walk into the sunset. Contemplating the simultaneous reversal of her own romantic fortune and that of her protagonist's is daunting, but maybe it's time for both her writing and her personal life to take a new path. Or is it?

This was my first book from Maria Murnane, but I now consider myself a fan. Cassidy has a fun life - she works from home, makes her own schedule, does her own thing. But she has self-esteem issues that go all the way back to her childhood.

Watching Cassidy and Brandon form a relationship via text messaging was so much fun. And then watching their awkward moments together seemed so real life. I felt like Cassidy was a friend of mine and she was telling me a story of her life.

Of course Cassidy and Brandon have their set-backs. Watching their relationship struggle tugged at my heart and I was yearning for them to work everything out and get their happily ever after.

This book ended with a very open ending. I'm hoping for a follow-up for these characters so we can find out what happens with their lives.

Pretty in Ink {Lindsey Palmer}

Pretty in Ink
I was provided a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review

This book had its pros and cons, but overall I enjoyed the story and getting to know the characters. The book begins with the Editor-in-Chief of a magazine getting fired. From there we see the dynamics of the office as a new editor-in-chief comes in and proceeds to do things her way.

Each chapter of this book is told from a different character's viewpoint. I'll be honest - I don't typically read the titles of chapters, so I was really confused at first. Also, in the beginning of the book the characters are so disconnected from each other that it is easy to lose focus on the entire story.

But eventually all the characters come together and you begin to see the big picture of the story that is being told. At this point you really begin to relate to each of them and get interested in how the story is going to turn out.

I enjoyed this book and really appreciated the way the author ended this story. I'm glad I got a chance to give this book a try and look forward to more titles from this author.
